Should We Send Follow-up Emails? Effective Tips to Understand it Better

What did come first in your mind after reading this title?

If your purpose is marketing your product or services then definitely you should follow-up your emails.

But that should be in proper way. You must do targeted email marketing to get maximum ROI.

So here, we need to understand why should we follow-up emails first.

Why Should We Always Send Follow-up Emails?

I like to suggest all, who asks some queries, to apply on yourself first then think about your audience. Then 80% of cases you’ll get your answer by yourself you will not need to ask it anyone. So in this case I would like to suggest the same. How many times you respond any marketing or offer related emails at first time after getting that mail. Just think.

I don’t think most of us respond their offers at first impression. But after getting follow-up mails we may change our mind many times.

Follow-up emails are must in that case where the recipient is not responding, if we think of a truly effective cold email campaign.

So, to the question is should you follow up?

It’s part of the email marketing.

And how often should you do so?

Many time but should be in genuine way. Should not sound like spamming.

Jason Zook, one of the famous digital marketer, reveals in his article that over 75% of his earning comes from following up the emails.

Some Effective Tips to Better Follow-up Emails.

So how do we write an effective follow up email that actually effectuates our target? Read below to understand the key steps to writing a effective follow up email.

1. Create follow-up email steps

• Determine Objective – Use proper call to action with clear objective.

• Open with Context – Re-emphasizing our initial email or interaction will help jog their memory and make it easier for them to respond.

• Clearly State Purpose- Yes, you should put your purpose very clear in your follow up email to make it valuable.

• Craft Subject Line- Subject line should be short and sweet. It must have power words and containing curiosities.

• When to Follow Up- If everything is ready then it’s time to follow up but when? See the below image.

2. Don’t show your Depression

“You haven’t responded yet,” or “You ignored my first email.” Just stop such types of words in your email immediately. Maintain your politeness.

3. Schedule it

Don’t send follow up mails regularly. Schedule it and then send fresh email. Give at least a week before following up

4. Directly Ask -follow or not?

If you’ve followed up a many times and still haven’t heard back, it would be better to ask directly should him/her follow or not. Most of the people will respond you to save your valuable time or show their interest. Honesty comes with honesty.

5. Don’t Repeat, Try Fresh

If someone is not responding on your mail try to send him/her fresh mail rather to repeat the same format. It works many times. So always try to follow this step.

We make them feel we actually care about their reaction.

Suggestion: Don’t stop to following up someone until he/she ask you to stop following up because it’s your responsibility to keep trying. You are spending money on your bulk email service provider, so you have to earn much more than what you are paying for these services.
