How To Increase RAM in Android Phone/Device Using Memory/SD Card

Are you frustrated with the slow performance of your Android phones?
Getting messages like “Memory full. Delete or move some data from C: Phone memory” or “Memory low. Delete or move some data from C: Phone memory” in your Android smartphones?
Want to play a high end graphic game on your old android phone?
Your phone crashes when you try to work on various apps at the same time? 
If yes, then you will have to increase your RAM. Actually, the major feature of your phone which constitute to these problems is the RAM. You might have been purchased the top mobile when these phones were released into the market, but android phones are being updated every day with new and better features than earlier. To move along with the trending era of cell phones, you have to buy a new one! But I think, it’s not possible for every person. So What? You can increase your Android phone’s RAM by using SD/Memory card without rooting your phone.

Reasons of Phone Running Slow

Your phone might be slow because of these below reasons like-
1- Low phone(internal) memory.
2- Low processor speed.
3- Low RAM.
Then what can we do? Expand the virtual RAM.

How to Increase RAM of Android Phone

I’ll tell you two methods of increasing your RAM.
1- By using an application(Free/Premium)– available in Android market and Google play store.
2- Manually increase your RAM.

So here we go for first one now.

METHOD 1:  Increase RAM in Android Phone Using Apps 

Here i‘ll explain you how you can increase your phone’s RAM by using premium Roehsoft RAM Expander(Swap) app. This app plays very important role in the partition of the memory / SD card for using that as RAM. After doing so memory card will work as virtual RAM for your Android phone.

Things to do Using RAM Expander to increase Android phone RAM

1. Please check the compatibility of the app with your Android device before downloading it.  For this you can use a testing app, MemoryInfo & Swapfile Check, to check for it before buying any app.
2. Install the App on your Android phone.
3. Create Swap file by clicking Swap Active and Enable it.
4. Click Active Swap.

Enjoy!! Now you have successfully increased you phone RAM.

METHOD 2: Manually (free method) to increase your Android RAM 

Below are some basic requirements to increase ram in Android Smart Phone

1. SD Card (min class 4)
2. Rooted Android Smart Phone or tablet. If you have not rooted android phone, then go through
    this link to know more about rooting of an Android Smartphone.
3. Windows PC and
4. SD Card Reader

STEP 1: Check If Your Android Phone Supports Swapping

As discussed in above method you can check it through – MemoryInfo & Swapfile Check.

STEP 2: Now Partition your SD Card or Memory Card

1. Download the mini tool partition wizard from here- Mini tool partition wizard
2- Insert the SD card into your PC.
3- Open Mini tool partition and format the inserted SD card.
4- Now Make partition by right click on your SD card. Select the partition as primary and file          system as FAT32 for card more than 4GB.
5- Leave approx 1 GB memory for next partition.
6- Then select done and again click on make partition option, select a primary partition, but change the file system to EXT2, EXT3 or EXT4.
7- Click to apply changes and you have completed partition on your memory card.

STEP 3: Link with your Rooted Android Device

1. Download Link2SD from the google play store.
2. Launch the app and give root permission. Choose the “.ext” partition.
3. Start linking them.

STEP 4: Increase RAM for your Android Device

1. Download Swapper for Root.

How To Increase RAM in Android Phone/Device Using Memory/SD Card-

2. Launch the app and select the amount of RAM you want to increase.
3. This will create a. swp file and it will increase the RAM of your Android Device.

Congrats! You have successfully increased RAM of your Android smartphone by using SD card.

I have described here two methods, one is without rooting your Android phone and second one needs rooting of your phone. So choose your easier method. And do share it with friends/relatives, who are also facing this problem.

    Hello Sudhir,
    As everyone knows, the major problem that arise in a android smartphone is low memory and low RAM problem. and this is frustrating especially for low budget android phones, because they have less RAM available.
    I am sure this will gonna beneficial for so many android users, like me. I am just going to give a hands on this trick and will let you know latter. 🙂

    I have done everything u hav explain above… But when i start swapper for root it only display “an error occurred: please check input field”.. Plzz help me bro…

    In that case, please follow below tips,
    1. Your partition must be ‘Primary’ (Fat32, at the end of SD card).
    2. Then open Link2SD>Left Menu>create script, and choose Fat32 and reboot your device.
